Empower the Differently-abled with Social Gifting

Empower the Differently-abled and Vulnerable through crafting with Social Gifting

Social Gifting is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise supported by NorthWest CDC. Through crafting of unique handmade and customisable items, we help underserved individuals to find strength, many of whom are fighting their battles with autism, cancer, mental illness, motherhood and seniors who are at risk of isolation.

Join us in our mission to empower crafters by building on their strengths and enabling them to live an enriching life with dignity. Social Gifting prides itself on meaningful and impactful collaborations with other like-minded organisations.

Potential collaborations include but not limited to the following:

1. CSR - Fabrics
In July 2021, Social Gifting collaborated with SingPost to transform phased-out SingPost uniforms into attractive craft items in an unprecedented upcycling project. Over 30 seniors who have faced isolation at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic were involved in the crafting process. Not only were the seniors able to play a part in promoting sustainability and alleviate pandemic-induced isolation through this upcycling project, many of them also benefitted from improved wellbeing and greater self-confidence.

How we can work together: Obsolete and unused fabrics can be donated and subsequently upcycled by our beneficiaries into renewed and useful craft items. A shoutout to partners for fabric scraps or other materials that can be upcycled.

2. CSR - Crafting
With the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, our beneficiaries are also adapting to the new norm. Through our collaboration with volunteers from Mondelez International and Empact, seniors staying in rental flats in Ghim Moh and MeiLing estate had a blast experiencing crafting of beautiful snow globes via a virtual setting.

How we can work together: With volunteers from your company, co-curate online crafting sessions with us. We guarantee a fun and meaningful experience for both volunteers and crafters!

3. Points redemption
Is your company running a rewards programme? You can also opt to list Social Gifting's items on your rewards redemption page. SingTel Dash collaborated with Social Gifting in April 2021 allowing users to redeem Dash points for cash vouchers which can be used in our online store.

How we can work together: Enable points redemption for Social Gifting's gifts for sale

4. Corporate purchase
In February 2021, the National University Health System (NUHS) ordered felt pouches meticulously crafted by the seniors at Lions Befrienders (Ghim Moh). Not only were these seniors engaged both mentally and physically, the process of crafting has also given them a sense of fulfilment.

How we can work together: EDM or virtual pop-up stores to encourage employee purchases with potential dollar-for-dollar matching by the employer

5. Media shout-out
One of the biggest challenges local social enterprises face is the public’s lack of awareness of the plight of our beneficiaries. Give Social Gifting and our beneficiaries a shoutout on your social media page or EDM to help promote our cause and bid to bring the needy and vulnerable together through crafting.

How we can work together: Publicity and advertising of Social Gifting through social media or other platforms.
