The Soup Restaurant Group is one of the top 20 listed leisure & restaurant companies on the Singapore Exchange in terms of market capitalisation. In 2013, it incorporated a subsidiary, Samsui Supplies & Services (Samsui), to lead the group's corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.
The company's strategy was to leverage the group's existing strengths in order to give in more sustainable and scalable ways. By identifying a relevant opportunity for impact (customised, low-cost catering for non-profit organisations) and by successfully engaging suppliers, partners and its own employees, the group succeeded in making a major contribution to society in a cost-effective and sustainable manner. These efforts were recognised in 2016 when Samsui received the President's Volunteer and Philanthropy Awards (Corporate, Small & Medium Enterprise category), for corporates that demonstrate excellence in giving. They were also recognised as Champions of Good for 2017 and 2018 and have tapped on the network of Company of Good to collaborate with others.
