Sustainability central to MPA's social responsibility efforts
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore was set up to develop Singapore as a premier global hub port, and in today's world, a successful port is a sustainable one. The statutory board not only ensures the environmental standards by regional and global maritime bodies are met in Singapore, but has also set up and enhanced the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative. The initiative seeks to reduce the environmental impact of shipping and other related activities, with voluntary programmes that are designed to incentivise and recognise companies who have gone above and beyond in their green efforts.
